New HSK Test Attended by 3,000 Examinees in Singapore
[来 源]  HANBAN                [发表时间]  2010-05-06 00:00:00.0

On April 17, 2010, 3,000 Chinese language learners attended the first New HSK Test hosted by Hanban. With 50% more examinees compared with the same period last year, this successful test sponsored by the Chinese Proficiency Test Center in Singapore (Crestar Group) symbolized a record high in terms of the size of examination site – nearly 800 examinees were sitting in a single auditorium in River Valley High School, making it the biggest examination site in the world.

According to feedback from Ms Chen Qi, Director of the Chinese Proficiency Test Center in Singapore (Crestar Group), 70% of the examinees were students and the remaining were qualified officials, preschool teachers and those who plan to work in China. It is widely known that the Singaporean Ministry of Education is exploring the future of Chinese language testing based on the HSK and that parents are supportive for children’s enrollment at schools. Many school administrators say that their students’ Chinese proficiency has been improved by the HSK and that in the future they hope to facilitate Chinese assessment on students via the HSK testing platform.

The Singaporean newspaper Zaobao conducted feature coverage on the April 17 test.
