Note on Collection of Plan for “Basic Chinese 300 for Volunteer Chinese Language Teachers”

In order to raise volunteer Chinese language teachers’ English levels and help them overcome language barriers so as to facilitate their life and work in foreign countries, the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) and Confucius Institute Headquarters recently launched a project of compiling and publishing “Basic Chinese 300 for Volunteer Chinese Language Teachers”. In order to draw on the wisdom of the masses, a collection of plans for the project is issued as follows:

Purpose
Practical, simple and easy foreign language learning materials.

Objects
Volunteer Chinese language teachers.
   
Content
1.  Seven versions
Compile “Basic Chinese 300 for Volunteer Chinese Language Teachers” in seven languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Thai, Indonesian and Mongolian.
   
2. Highlight practicality
Choose the most common, active context with the widest coverage, bearing a close relationship with volunteers’ work and life, expressed in simple sentences.

3. Contextual learning
Set up 30 contextual units and compile 300 typical sentences (ten sentences following one context), concerning volunteers’ classroom English, work English and daily English. In every contextual unit, typical sentences, contextual conversation and English words are involved.

4, Parallel Display
In order to help learners remember English words in a visual and direct way, a graphical glossary is added to the text, which is then divided into different categories to facilitate comprehensive learning, such as teaching tools, school facilities, office supplies, vehicles, daily necessities, common food, sports, etc. Meanwhile, simple language is employed to expound on pronunciation and basic grammar (including alphabet, pronunciation, spelling rules, compounding rules, basic sentence structures, common abbreviations, etc).    

Design
1. 32k in size, being matched with pictures to give a vivid show of content, portable and interesting.
2. Apart from paper text, it is also equipped with electric pronunciation pen and MP3 disks. 
   
Sample and Collection Time
From April 21 to May 5, submitted in the form of WORD, PDF or PPT. Plays being adopted will be paid for by Hanban according to relevant standards.
