April, 19th, 2010 – The JYDA (Japan Youth Development Association) held a conference for the new HSK test at Aruku Educational Publishing House in Tokyo. The Confucius Institute at Kansai Gaidai University was entrusted by Hanban with the task of introducing the new HSK test.
Prof. Jin Weiwei, Director of the institute, Prof. Suyama Junichi, director of Chinese testing center, and Mr. Kaitani, director general of HSK Office in Japan attended at the meeting. Prof. Suyama Junichi gave a speech entitled ‘The Purpose and Prospects of the New HSK’ to more than 50 Chinese and Japanese journalists, giving a detailed explanation of the new HSK.
The previous HSK test’s focus was upon testing language knowledge; whereas, the new HSK test is directed at examining students’ capability in applying Chinese language. On January, 27th, the institute, under the direction of Hanban, contrasted the previous HSK with the new HSK before 136 students from the Chinese Department. Most examinees said that the new HSK exam met their various demands and would improve their ability for Chinese learning. They also benefited a lot from the testing.
The Confucius Institute will continue to probe into its analysis of quantitative correlational data of the HSK in Japan to be drawn on for further promotion of new HSK.
